COVID Vaccinations

When Will I Get Vaccinated

I have had a number of people in touch with me worried about themselves or a relative.

“My dad is 86 and hasn’t had his vaccination. His neighbour is 80 and they have had theirs! Why?! Can you look into this?”

My team and I have been overwhelmed with people contacting us about Covid related matters for months and we still continue to be inundated. We are now being swamped with questions about when individuals can be vaccinated. I understand worries and concerns. Therefore I have contacted our CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) for some information around these issues. You can find that information below and, in the hyperlinks, attached. I hope this is some help and reassurance.

NHS Vaccinations

The NHS continues to vaccinate people 80 and over, residents and staff in care homes for older people and frontline health and social care staff. They are just starting to vaccinate housebound people over 80 as only the AstraZeneca vaccine can be transported.

If you are a frontline member of staff, live or work in a care home please continue to wait, as the NHS is working with employers and care home managers to ensure you are all offered the vaccine.

If you are 80 or over and have not received an invitation to your first vaccination, please now call your GP.

Your local NHS is also now inviting people aged 70 and over and people who are clinically extremely vulnerable (as defined by the Joint Committee of Vaccinations and Immunisation). Please wait to be contacted by the NHS. This may be by phone, or a letter either from your GP or the national booking system

The East London Health and Care partnership vaccine page has some useful resources for local people. This includes Frequently Asked Questions to help answer what you need to know about the vaccine and the vaccination process. There is also a new chatbot to answer questions on topics including priority groups and phasing.
